FOR PARENTS
Your support is a student's greatest
asset.
Co-operation between parents, students and staff is vital to the success of the student. You can help by following these suggestions:
1. Provide a quiet work space for homework and study.
2. Insist that some home study be done every school night.
3. If no homework is assigned, make sure that review or study time is done
or that work continues on long-term assignments due later in the semester.
4. Make sure that the student has all the supplies needed for the daily
course work.
5. Encourage student participation in extracurricular and intramural programs.
6. Telephone the Administration, Guidance Counsellor or Teacher if you
have any concerns about your child's progress.
7. Please write notes WHEN AND ONLY WHEN an absence,
late or early dismissal is truly justified (e.g. medical appointments,
pre-planned family matters or emergencies).
8. Phone calls will also be accepted from parents to cover an absence.
9. Plan holiday only during regular school vacations.
* If you allow your child to go on holidays during regular school time,
work must be submitted on time or a mark of zero may be assigned. It is
the student's responsibility to know about and complete assignments. There
will be no make-up tests or examinations.
* A student who misses the mid-term exam for any reason must write the
final exam.
* It must also be understood that participation marks are an integral factor
in all evaluation. Excessive absenteeism may result in student failure.
More than 10 day's absence per semester is considered excessive.
