| I have to agree with the complaints about Astra...the front cover says
what??? The parking lot flooding with numerous people displayed with
cancer sticks hanging from their mouths was mighty appetizing!
And why oh why did they only make 500 copies for a 967 population school? please explain! Anonymous |
| I have a bone to pick with some of the ditzy girls at our school.
Why do you go around flaunting your bodies like meat? The only reason
you have friends is because a) they either want to get in your pants, or
b) they like to bum cigarettes off you! Get a grip air heads!
Your prissy attitudes will only get you as far as the next McDonalds! People
don't respect the stupid blonde attitude that you portray... do you think
that skipping class and sitting in the parking lot is considered cool?
Grow up!!! take off the makeup, wear some clothes, go to class,
smarten up, and act your age!

gave out really good cupcakes. That is all!

| About what was said about the rest of Canada being fed up with Québec
and wanting them to leave, I'd like to know how you figure that? As someone
who grew up in Manitoba and lived there until last year I'd like to let
you know that you're wrong. Manitoba has the largest french pop. in Canada,
outside of Quebec. The majority of Manitobans I know do not want Québec
to leave. Just as a second point, I hardly think the country is headed
for a civil war!

| I truly believe that the Detroit Red Wings are going to win the stanley
cup this year. They have now advanced to the finals against the Flyers.
With the talent from Steve Yzerman, Sergei Fedorov, Brandon Shannahan and
Mike Vernon. This will give the wings an excellent chance on winning the
cup since 1955. The Red Wings have way too much talent to be defeated.
My prediction is Detroit in 6, when they win in Motown.
GO WINGS!!!!!!!! Yzerman is the best player ever. Anonymous |
| Why do they put grade 10s in the grade 9 part of the year book since
they are in grade ten.

| I just want to say one thing about those 'ANONYMOUS'
messages about ASTRA. I think that any criticizing of the ASTRA
and the ASTRA crew should be CONSTRUCTIVE, and not degrading or attacking
(as it was). By the way, the flood was hilarious, and I don't remember
it getting tired as it hasn't been done before, as far as I can tell. I
am not on da crew either, but I thought it was very good. Will it
not help you remember the year, your friends and events when you look at
it in a decade or so? Isn't that the purpose of a yearbook?
About that sheep thing... I think that, as suggested by Chris Hyde, we should clone a political leader that will get things done... Stalin wouldn't be MY choice, however. I just think there's got to be a better choice than Wendy's Progressive Conservative approach. I mean, who wants to live under a party with a name juxtaposed to sound fancy? All they need is their leader to be Oxym Oron or something. Anonymous |
| Hate to tell all of the liberal bleeding hearts out there but we are
headed for a civil war anyway. Other than pacifist Ontario (biggest
sucker province in Canada) the majority of sensible provinces cannot stand
the whiney French traitors. Anyone remember when Adolf Hitler only
wanted to have a separate nation for his people. Sounds the same.
Any ways this same type of thing happened in the States in 1861, and a
civil war was caused. Anyone remember any other states that have
tried to separate since then? I am not advocating a civil war not
by far, but didn't 1939 show us that appeasement doesn't work. Sorry
kids, it's time to wake up and smell the fascism. Quebec is an ultra-national
extremist Shining Path - wanna be. The rest of Canada is fed up with
their crap and sick of it.

| In response to the political comment made a couple days ago, I believe
that the only action that Preston Manning would be able to provide would
be a civil war.

| We will win all the rest of our rugby games. I will try not to
get in any fights with players from other teams over personal differences. WE don't like girls who play with guy's heads. If you are one of these girls please STOP! before you drive us crazy and force all men to run wild in the streets screaming. Thank you and have a lovely day and a merry Easter. Jamie and Jodie Webmaster's Note: To those who frequent this site from outside of Uxbridge, we do not celebrate easter at a different time of year. I have no idea what Jamie and Jodie were referring to. |

| In response to those who voiced their opinion on the different parties
(May 8th) and the upcoming election I have a comment.
None of the above. All political parties in Canada are the same.
They are left-wing socialist-bleeding heart whiners. Don't you realize
that we are living in an oligarchic system. Where only the rich,
drunk, and affluent make the decisions. Our choices are the Marxists
(NDP) the Marxists-Leninists (PC) and the Leninist (Liberals). Either
that or we vote for the treasonous fascist PQ. Treason is a crime
people. In any other country, there is at least some sliver of national
pride. Unfortunately that is nonexistent in our country. Reform
seems to have to only real platform, but they need to get rid of
Preston Manning. The only real vote is a spoiled vote, either that
or we clone Stalin, and run him for office. Chris Hyde |

| In response to May 7th comment about grade 11
CS class learning VB on old PCs. Well I remember when the only CS room
at USS was Commodore - 64s and PETs (it was a big deal when we got an Amiga
500... who took the RAM card???) And ask Mr. Brandon (he still around?)
about the network of PETs he had (if you can call it networked). Back then
(not so long ago) the most technical course was how to format a floppy
and maybe write a loop in Basic. Any ways... to the point... I started
my computer career with this technology (at USS) and am now doing just
fine in the world of PCs and Unix, at least you get PCs to use in a PC
world )

| What the CUPE union did today was disgusting. It is totally irresponsible
to leave the office at a secondary school un-staffed. The phones were not
being answered (I tried from the pay phone). If there had been an emergency,
no one would have been able to handle it. What if my car were needed to
drive my sister to the hospital? Because of this disgusting display of
irresponsibility, I would not have known.
This type of action is simply not acceptable, and serious action should be taken against the Union. Next time this happens, I encourage every student at USS to walk down to the office and demand to see their ORS, as is their right. By not showing us our Oar's, they would be violating our rights as students in Ontario. Anonymous |

| As i was reading the entry on who you should vote for in the upcoming
election, and read the part on the GST, a thought occurred to me. if you
voted liberal because you thought they would eliminate the GST what were
you thinking?? With a country so far in debt as ours, do you think they
would, or even could just pull out a tax that brings in that kind of money?
Come on! no way. face it. As much as everyone complains about the GST,
it's a necessary tax. At best it would have been replaced by another GST
with a different name.

| With the upcoming election, I hope people will start to say something
about their political views. Well I will be the first one to leave my opinion
on the political parties in this country. The liberals: suck. Chrétien
is a lying sob. Remember the promise to rid Canada of the GST? he seems
to have forgotten that one. Oh I remember he came out and said "I
lied, I did it for the vote." Why should anyone vote for a guy who
lies like that? If he did it once he will do it again. Don't let him get
the power, take a stand against him and the other corrupt politicians.
The NDP, well needless to say, they are the most screwed up group of socialists
this side of the Atlantic. The only other group of nuts worse than the
NDP is the labour party in England, but that's not our problem. The PC
party (in the eyes of the very intelligent political analyst Wendy Rynard)
is the only party to vote for. Why you ask? Because there will be young
offenders act reform, he's cutting taxes, eliminating the faint hope provision,
and creating jobs, jobs, jobs. Also he's quite a stud. The BQ, should all
be hanged for treason. The reform lacks a strong leader. The other parties
on the ballot, you know the spoiled ballot parties, we won't even mention
them. Thanks for the input.

| If you are going to start to complain about things you don't like at
school, which is fine, why rag on the astra? Why not complain about other,
more important things, like a grade 11 computer science class using the
dinosaur machines when they are trying to learn Visual Basic?!

| Typical of the way people think these days. "If you don't like
how it's done, do it yourself". The fact of the matter is, these people
signed up to do a job, and we should be allowed to criticize their results.
It is a sad statement about our school when we feel we should not be allowed
to point out what needs improvement.

| I am writing in answer to the year book critic. I am not on the Astra
crew so this is not a biased opinion but I thought, from what I saw that
the Astra was done pretty well. I think that if the anonymous user does
not like it, maybe he/she should take the course and make the improvements
s/he thinks are necessary.

| This year's Astra was a true disappointment. There seems to be no improvement
between this year book and those it was designed by club. It just seems
like very little work went into it. What the heck was with that flood thing?
This fake news item concept is VERY tired. I also think that the members
of the Astra club should have been given a lesson on maturity. It is contrary
to the purpose of the yearbook for them to insert themselves into club
photos. This just demonstrates how little the Astra crew appreciated the
seriousness of their post. I hope that next year we can elevate the Astra
to its former heights of glory.
